Your Initial Visit Procedure

Initial Visit

Your first visit will be different from any other visit you have made to a dental office and you will be introduced to our practice through a comprehensive examination by one of our dentists.

You will also be introduced at this time to the different types of equipment that we use in our office to create beautiful, natural looking smiles.
Expect the office's first visit to take at least one hour. We're going to ask a lot of questions about your past dental experience and your expectations for the future.

Initial Examination

The initial visit will be comprised of an extensive examination including:

1. Analysis of your overall dentition for existing restorations, active decay and occlusal wear. Your smile’s appearance (teeth color, tightness or looseness of teeth, health of prior dental work).
2. Evaluation of tissues surrounding teeth to evaluate any early signs of periodontal disease.
3. Evaluation of your bite alignment to check for signs of jaw dysfunction.
4. Oral cancer screening.
Dr. Abri will also take digital photos of your current smile and of any areas giving you concern. These photos can later serve as an excellent reminder of how your smile has improved if you elect to undergo any cosmetic procedures.
After your examination, Dr. Abri will review his findings with you. With the aid of technology, the doctor will even be able to show you any particular issues he has discovered on the computer monitor via an intraoral camera. With instant digital x-rays, Dr. Abri will also be able to detect any issues not visible to the eye.
At this time, Dr. Abri will be able to recommend any restorative procedures you may need to correct your existing dental work. He can also recommend cosmetic dentistry such as porcelain veneers or lumineers that can vastly improve your smile. For each treatment considered, Dr. Abri will discuss its benefits and show you a demonstration model as well as previous patients’ before and after pictures.
After we have determined a plan of action, we will provide you with estimates of the proposed dental procedures. We will be glad to help you in coordinating the timeline for any treatment we recommend. Please see the patient financing page for more details.
